‘STAPLE’ the acronym of the ‘Stopping Trained in America PhDs from Leaving the Economy’ was first introduced in 2009 by Jeff Flake, the U.S representative for Arizona’s 6^th Congressional District. This bill has been re-introduced by House of Representatives that will exempt non-immigrants with American PhD in STEM from the limits on the number of employment-based Green Cards and H1B visas awarded annually. According to Congressman Mr. Erik Paulsen, US should provide all the opportunities to the skilled students holding American PhD to contribute to the American economy. Paulsen also stated that as thousands of highly skilled jobs are going unfilled; this STAPLE act will make sure that American companies are getting the talent they are searching for. This act will grant Green Card and H1B visa to the professionals in STEM field and help them to stay in exploring new avenues which will boost up the US economy. Quigley, in his remarks, also maintained that to remain in the competitive global market USA should encourage bright students to study, work and invent new ideas that will advance technology and research areas in USA. It removes immigration barriers to international STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) students who earn advanced degrees here. STAPLE Act, if granted a nod, shall prove to be silver lining in the cloud for aspirants who want to pursue PhD in the field of STEM. Student with STEM degree are also eligible for applying a 24-months Optional Training Program (OPT), which enables temporary employment to the F-1 students. The United States has developed as a global leader, in large part, through the genius and hard work of its scientists, engineers, and innovators and provides an excellent platform for aspirants who intend to pursue their higher studies in USA.
